MIDDLETON AD HOC SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE

MONDAY NOVEMBER 16, 2009 6:30 P.M.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Brar, Carey, Hinahara, Koenig, Lorman, Olson, Saeger, Share, West

MEMBERS ABSENT:

1. Call Meeting to Order

Saeger called the meeting to order at 6:32.

2. Minutes of October 19, 2009

Brar moved, Olson seconded, to approve the minutes of October 19. Motion carried (9-0).

 3. Become a Committee by Ordinance

Saeger suggested an addition to the ordinance, “The Committee is further tasked t o identify and/or offer educational opportunities and community events which further City of Middleton residents’ knowledge and practice of sustainable actions.”

Olson moved, Koenig seconded, to accept the change to the ordinance and forward the ordinance to Matt Fleming to make the changes. Motion carried (8-0). West abstained.

Brar moved, Koenig seconded, to recommend approval of the ordinance to the L&O Committee and to the Common Council. Motion carried (8-0). West abstained.

4. Sustainable Community Plan

Attoun updated the committee on the progress with the sustainable city plan. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 2 at 3pm at City Hall.

5. Community Gardens

The design charrette invitation will be mailed to the CLC members, Council members, Forsythia gardeners, and residents living within a short distance of the site. Darlene Buhler with the Blettner Group will also be invited to participate.

6. Adjourn – next meeting scheduled for Monday, December 14, at 6:30
