2. Public Hearing – Project Plan for Redevelopment District No. 3
Chairman Sonnentag opened the public hearing at 8:52 p.m.
The City’s consultant, Susan Hoeft of Vandewalle and Associates, presented an overview of the Redevelopment Plan. She reiterated the statement contained in the public hearing notice, regarding the filing by any owner of property in the redevelopment district of an objection to the plan.
Susan Brye, 6630 Century Ave., asked if property owners have to write a letter.
Hans Hilbert, Alderperson for the City, confirmed that all property owners within the proposed district received a letter and other information about the process.
Dann Stuntebeck, 2312 Amherst Rd., asked about protections for renters.
Susan Hoeft explained that both tenants and property owners are protected through State Statutes, and that there is a relocation process that must be followed. She also stated that the Redevelopment Plan as currently written does not contain a provision for eminent domain to be used by the City, and the Plan would have to be amended for that to occur.
Chairman Sonnentag closed the public hearing at 9:12 p.m.
Moved by Wexler, seconded by Zellers, to find that the proposed Redevelopment District #3 Project Plan is feasible, and is in conformity with the general plan of the City. Motion carried 5-0.
4. Adjourn
Moved by DiPiazza, seconded by Zellers, to adjourn. Motion carried 5-0.
