MIDDLETON COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY

TUESDAY FEBRUARY 12, 2008 6:00 PM

 

 

 

PRESENT: Sonnentag, Wexler, Barmore, Dean, Simon, Zellers

ABSENT: DiPiazza

ALSO PRESENT: Davis, Kelley

 

 

 

Moved by Wexler, seconded by Simon, to approve the minutes of 11-13-07. Motion carried 6-0.

 

Alan Becker, 3421 Nappe Drive, a dealer located in the Antique Mall, stated the mall was widely known among dealers and one of the best in the Midwest.

Jim Geving, owner of the Antique Mall, said he feels the mall is a perfect fit for the building, and an asset to the downtown.

Gary Lacher, 2605 Van Hise Ave., Madison, spoke in support of the antique mall.

Van Nutt, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, spoke in support of the antique mall.

Marilyn Burke, downtown property owner, spoke in support of the antique mall.

3. Motion to convene into Closed Session pursuant to Section 19.85(1)(e), Wisconsin Statutes: (e) for the Deliberation of or Negotiation for the Purchase of Public Properties, the Investing of Public Funds or Conducting Other Specific Business, whenever Competitive or Bargaining Reasons Require a Closed Session. The Community Development Authority will discuss consideration of purchasing properties in Downtown Middleton.

 

Moved by Wexler, seconded by Barmore, to convene into closed session in accordance with section 19.85(1)(e) of the Wis. Statutes for the purpose of discussing the potential purchase of properties in downtown Middleton. Motion carried 6-0.

While in closed session, CDA members discussed the above-described topic.

 

4. Motion to reconvene into Open Session

 

Moved by Wexler, seconded by Barmore, to reconvene into open session. Motion carried 6-0.

 

5. Revolving Loan Request - T’s Personal Training & Fitness

Plan Commission members discussed the proposed project with the applicant.

Moved by Wexler, seconded by Zellers, to refer the proposed revolving loan fund request to the City’s Finance Director, Tim Studer. Motion carried 6-0.

 

6. Interest in Downtown Business Association—Marketing/Funding

 

Following discussion, moved by Wexler, seconded by Barmore, to authorize staff to investigate options and provide additional details at a future meeting. Motion carried 6-0.

 

7. CDA Finances

 

A summary of the status of CDA finances was presented. This was for informational purposes, and no action was necessary.

 

8. Adjourn

 

Moved by Zellers, seconded by Barmore, to adjourn the meeting at 7 p.m. Motion carried 6-0.
