Park, Recreation, & Forestry Commission Adopt-A-Park Policy

Purpose:


To promote partnerships between neighborhood groups and the PRFC.  These partnerships will promote community involvement, improve park faclities & grounds, and improve overall park attendance & use.

 

1. Adopt-A-Park groups may contribute labor & skills to their park.  Organized groups may work on flower bed improvement projects, tree care, perform minor park facility maintenance, coordinate regular park litter control, and/or perform other needed services.

 

2. The PRFC welcomes donations as a part of the Adopt-A-Park program and encourages groups to raise funds for worthy park improvement projects (i.e. playground equipment, picnic tables & grills, trash receptacles & recycle carts, kiosks & bulletin boards, land restoration activates an other facility improvements).

 

3. The Public Lands Manager will approve and coordinate any/all Adopt-A-Park projects prior to implementation.  Applicants must submit a completed application for approval.

 

4. Adopt-A-Park groups must perform organized litter control and/or park beatification work days four times per year to remain in good standing in the program.  All volunteer work must be performed during day light hours.

 

5. Adopt-A-Park groups are required to provide their own on-site adult supervision.

 

6. Adopt-A-Park groups must submit a written annual request to the PRFC in January, in order to continue with their park activities.

 

7. All Adopt-A-Park groups are voluntary and as such are individually responsible for any/all of their own accidents and injuries.  For record keeping purposed, groups must report all accidents & injuries within 24 hours to the Public Lands Manager at 827-1044.

 

8. Each park adopted will have a standard Adopt-A-Park sign posted by the parks department noting the adoption.  The sign shall identify the City of Middleton,  designated park name, and sponsoring group name.

 

9. Adopt-A-Park group responsibilities includes;
   - Report any/all major facility & maintenance needs to the Public Lands Manager.
   - Separate garbage from recyclable material and leave onsite for park staff.
   - Don't touch anything you cannot identify.
   - Avoid touching sharp items or lifting heavy items.
   - Leave dead animals on site, and report to Public Lands Manager.
